Soccer going from strength to strength

After four successful trial matches against neighbouring clubs, it is safe to say that soccer in Hay has been well and truly revived.

Sunday was the last time the Rams will take the pitch for 2025, as preparations to joining a league or 2026 has come to an end and now the club will focus on their Wooloondool SIX aside Challenge Shield.

On Saturday February 15, Hay hosted Deniliquin Wanderers which saw Hay take the win 6-2.

Two weeks later Hay then again hosted Griffith City, reigning champions of the Griffith District, but went down 6-1 with an early goal through Brad Callaghan.

The Rams then travelled away to Cobram, where Hay also comfortably lost, despite playing better and better each week.

On Sunday March 9, Hay travelled away to Swan Hill to play in an invitational round robin competition with competing clubs Deniliquin Wanderers, Nichols Point (Mildura), and Swan Hill FC.

The Rams went down in all three games with a depleted side, but it also gave a lot of the juniors a good game and getting a taste of senior’s football. The players of the day went to Jonatan Medina and Jonathan Ort which is a well-deserved achievement to them both.

Junior Lambs sides (11s and 14s) have been training together at our Saturday Rooball Program in preparation for away games against the Deniliquin Strike Force Academy and Swan Hill FC in Deni this Saturday.

Rooball will still go ahead on Saturday from 4:30 and the six aside comp to continue from 5:30 where The Grand Final rematch between the Mid Town Royals and South Hay Hotel will take place, with The Hay Bowlo vs Northern Boars to follow. The club also invites all the players, supporters and juniors back to the Bowling Club that night from 7:00 to show our gratitude for their sponsorship efforts and faith they’ve shown.
